Parks and Recreation Reports To:
Facility Manager Purpose of Position The purpose of this position is to coordinate and perform daily building and office operations and provide customer service and park and recreation services to City residents.
The work is performed under the supervision of the Facility Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
In the absence of Full-Time Staff:
Opens facility for daily use.
Closes facility at end of day.
Verifies change funds, rental set-ups, building schedules, inspects facilities for maintenance or repair needs.
Supervises part-time staff.
Assigns and reviews work.
Provides instruction.
Answers and routes office telephone calls; provides information, takes and relays messages; registers patrons, processes rentals and park permits; Issues ID Cards and Pool passes; Receives payments; Issues equipment for use in the facility; and picnic kits; Conducts facility tours for general and rental information; Provides information to the public regarding schedules, programs, and City services; In the absence of Facility Manager, Coordinates staff to cover building due to shortages.
Supervises use of equipment and facilities.
Enforces facility and park rules and regulations.
Resolves conflicts between public, instruction, employees, etc.
Coordinates activities and assists with special events.
Sells disc-golf discs.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Assists in training new Recreation Leaders.
Works with volunteers for special events and occasional projects.
Updates activity schedules and calendars.
Maintains positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner which promotes a good relationship with citizens, and other members of the community, co-workers and supervisors.
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.
Sets up and cleans rental rooms.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions One year of college, one year customer service and supervisory experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
A Missouri driver's license required.
Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication Ability to classify, compute and tabulate data and information, following a prescribed plan requiring the exercise of some judgment.

Ability to utilize a wide variety of descriptive data and information such as regulations, program forms, receipts, balance sheets, attendance records, time cards, rental contracts, employee manual, schedules, newspaper copy, program reports, maps, correspondence and computer software operating manuals.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing with patrons and Division personnel.
Mathematical Ability Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to calculate percentages.
Judgment and Situational Reasoning Ability Ability to use functional reasoning and apply rational judgment in performing diversified work activities.
Ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against measurable criteria.
Physical Requirements Ability to operate, maneuver and/or steer equipment and machinery requiring simple but continuous adjustments such as fitness equipment, computer terminal, cash register, camera, A/V equipment, two- way radio, calculator, laminator, fax machine and telephone.
Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing movements requiring moderate skill, such as typing.
Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
Ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, sounds and odors associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.
Environmental Adaptability Ability to work under conditions which require exposure to environmental factors such as temperature variations and extremes, irate individuals and intimidation.
This exposure may cause some discomfort and presents a risk of injury.
